Top 5 best and worst hotels in Bratislava

Couple of days ago I guided nice small group of tourists from Singapore. They were really lovely people and they had many interesting questions about Bratislava or Slovakia. One of them was – which is the best hotel in Bratislava? I answered and it inspired this list!

Top 5 best hotels:

Sheraton Bratislava – great location, helpful staff and delicious food, simply the best.

Hotel Ibis – love their location as well, pet-friendly, parking available, reasonable prices.

Carlton hotel – historical building with modern renovation, stuff always ready to help you.

Austria trend hotel – modern hotel, enjoyed the restaurant food, my clients were satisfied.

Arcadia hotel – located in the city center, interior with gothic elements, just great reviews.

As I was thinking about the best hotels I also remembered many bad experiences in different hotels. Some of them were really unpleasant. I had to apologize so many times in front of my clients, that I had to write it all down. I do not like when hotels are just average, when they do not treat my clients or visitors of Bratislava with certain respect, dignity and care.

Top 5 worst hotels:

Park Inn Danube – renovation was needed for many years and is finally in progress.

Falkensteiner – never met friendly receptionist, my clients and I did not enjoyed the food.

Marrols – location great, but prices too high, plus incedibly bossy and arrogant staff.

Grand hotel River Park – overpiced for the quality received, clients were dissapointed.

Holiday Inn – location is really bad, far from the city center, basic hotel, needs renovation.

I wish for the hotels in the worst list to improve their quality of services, and to to be more polite with people coming to Bratislava. We as employees in customer care are the ones representing our country and city. Therefore we have to make sure, we do it the right way.

Do you agree with this list? Or do you have other experiences? Write me in comments! 🙂

Extract from my e-book

This is an extract from my e-book and its part My city! http://greatideaslovakia.eu

In the communist time it was not allowed to travel without special permits. It was also very difficult to get those documents. My parents were never allowed to travel into the so-called not communist friendly countries. Many people used to travel and never return back, so many times people had very special border controls and it was also not allowed to carry too much money or personal documents, photographs, etc.

I am 30 years old and I do not remember communist era that much. My older brother and sister have more of less only candid memories. They remember the pioneers movement, the similar dresses and not very wide selection of fruits and vegetables.

When it comes to the generation of my parents they do remember much more. My mom and born in 1951 and my father 4 years prior, so they lived big part of their life in communist era. They remember their jobs, their friends who left the country. One of our family friends left the country after 1968 – Prague spring and never returned back. His whole family was having a lot of issues and was interrogated by police.

My uncle, who was my dad´s brother, had also many problems, because he was a catholic priest and was followed, persecuted and even disciplined by the goverment.

It was very difficult time and I personally do not like to picture it black and white, because besides all the freedom taken from people, there were some good things. But many things were not free, like no freedom to travel, express own thoughts freely, no free press, media and religion. There was officially no unemployement, no homeless people. Young people used to marry in their early 20ties so they would get cheaper flats for the newlyweds. There was the family politics, supporting having multiple children in the family, abortions and divorces were more difficult to get than are now.

New projects of 2017

New projects of 2017

The year 2017 is almost here and I am excited.

There are many plans, ideas and projects in making.

First and foremost I still love the same people – http://greatideaslovakia.eu/my-friends. Even now in my kitchen you can find three different coffees from Goriffee, some Cascara and tea from my friends. Thoughout last couple of months we had lots of great discussions about our work, coworkers, state. And I still love these amazing guys!

Authentic Slovakia really improved their website and I very much like it. What makes them one great company is their team – http://www.authenticslovakia.com/about-us/our-team/.

Bratislava food tour has also something new. It is their sweet tooth tour. Yummy! I would like to try this tour as well! http://bratislavafoodtours.com/sweet-tooth-tour/

And me and my company? I am this process in making. I am searching, connecting, finding things I love and like to do. It is sometimes harder, sometimes easier. I for myself am still searching this balance between my personal and my work life. It is sometimes challenging.

For the next year I would like to once again guide some tourists, but I would like to join forces with other great guides. I think, that there are so many other great Bratislava city guides to help me create great tours of Bratislava. And I am still improving my main company website – http://greatideaslovakia.eu with the help of Websupport products.

Another project I am currently finishing is my e-book – My city, my home, my love, unique guidebook of Bratislava. I decided to separate and upload it in three different sections. It is still in the making and I really enjoy writting it. And my photos there are amazing.

I also very much enjoy blogging and I also want to improve not only the content, but also the look of my two blogs. Besides this one I also have the Slovak one – http://1skgirl.sk.

Last couple of months I am also creating, writting and finishing my education programme. It is going to make learning German much more fun. I am currently finishing the first e-learning, but other two are also in making. For more information click here – http://deutschmitala.org. I will be posting lot more things on this second company website.

I have lot of projects and plans and they all make me very proud. I am trying to make my customers, clients and co-workers satisfied. Very important for me is to respect other people. I am also working hard to create the best products, that I would personally buy.

I am also still learning and improving. I really love educating myself in online marketing, advertisement or management. It is an important part of my work. And also my Spanish and horse riding lessons. I want to become better me in the upcoming year 2017. Cheers to that! 1skgirl
